Living With Interstitial Cystitis
I recently was interviewed for the Help My Hurt website about what it is like living with Interstitial Cystitis. This is a great website, authored by a nurse, that focuses on pain-related issues and illnesses.
Many times people don’t think about Interstitial Cystitis being a pain-related illness, even though one of the major symptoms is pain, and how it affects our daily lives. After suffering for two years I was recently diagnosed with IC in January 2008. I will go for a urodynamic testing at the end of this month. This disease is HELL. I am so miserable. It’s hard to work. I can’t sleep. I haven’t slept in TWO years, more than about an hour and a half to two hours at at time. I’m 54 and I want to go on disability. I don’t know how much longer I can work. The fatigue is effecting my ability to concentrate.
